Rugged coastlines with quirky seabirds, trees that drip emerald greens or dazzling oranges, tiny, yet bold, wildflowers that roam the countryside, these are a few of the subjects that inspire me. It is my good fortune to live in the Highlands of Scotland where there is an abundance of such things, ok yes, the weather can sometimes leave something to be desired but hey, the ever-changing light just adds drama to the painting!
I work in a variety of media but predominately watercolour. My ultimate aim, is to achieve colours that sing and paintings that express the natural beauty of the environment.
I also make jewellery from sea glass and pottery discovered on the local beaches. Each piece of sea glass has a history of it's own, sometimes having spent centuries in the sea. Hand-painted and decorated with silk each piece becomes truly unique.
