Margaret Evans is an internationally known pastel artist, painter and tutor, based in Perthshire, Scotland.
Margaret says of her work: "Through teaching & travelling worldwide, I have learnt to use bolder tone & colour in my work, inspired by great artists I have met along the way. My influences have widened, my style has loosened and my mind is open to new ways to express myself as a painter, whether through love of pastel, watercolour sketches , or oil painting
I promote and endorse pastels as a serious & worthy medium, as they can be used in dry or wet techniques, developed like oils or acrylics. I now paint fulltime at home and enjoy seeing pastels finally being accepted as a serious painting medium in top galleries in Scotland"
Her vivid representations of Scotland (and beyond!) are hugely popular, and she uses pastels to create bright, sumptuous hues.
She is a Signature member of Pastel Society of America, and a a member of the Portrait Society of America. Also a Member of Pastel Artists of Canada, Art du Pastel en France & Pastel Society of Spain, and Member of steering committee for Landscape Artists International – LAI incorporating International Plein-Air Painters
She has written numerous books and features regularly in many art publications. She runs painting courses worldwide as well as workshops from her studio in Scotland.
