Kerr Rodgie was born in Glasgow in 1992 and raised in the Scottish Borders; he now lives and works in London. Kerr comes from a long lineage of family painters and he graduated with a First Class BA Hons in Fine Art Sculpture at Grays School of Art in Aberdeen. He was awarded the 2014 RGU Purchase Prize for the Arts and Heritage Collections.
Inspired by his natural physical environment he uses oil painting and sculpture as his mediums to capture this. Rodgie takes influence from long cycle trips with his father around Skye and the Western Isles trying to capture the ever-changing environments of the Islands. He tries to capture a sense of atmosphere, and the strong colours, of the rugged Scottish landscape.
