I studdied at Duncan of Jordanstone and gained a Master of Fine Art (MFA). I like to take Scottish Highland myths and legends and portray them using oils, acrylics and charcoal. Recently instead of using a paintbrush I have experimented on some of my works by using my hands to paint, resulting in lively energetic and exppresive paintings.
I studdied the work of 19th Century artists who first portrayed the picturesque scenery of areas like Glencoe and Loch Katrine. Much of my work is developed using my imagination. I try to capture the intensity and majesty of the landscape. This is highlighted by over exaggerating rock faces and creating piercing light rays through breaking clouds, reflection and the tranquility of distant springs and lochs. Mankind or any human creations rarely feature in my work as it is the awe of nature and the spirit of the sublime that I explore.
