David M. Neilson trained at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and The Glasgow School of Art. After a career teaching in Fife secondary schools he retired early in 2007 and has painted full time since then. Over the years the work undertaken has been mainly for the private commissions market on a variety of subjects including landscapes, townscapes, and transport art. In recent years the artist has been particularly interested in the surviving fishing fleet at Pittenweem in the East Neuk of Fife and this has provided subject matter for many paintings produced in the last few years.
